I love love love Halloumi and it has been one of my favourite cheeses (OMG is that a word?!) for many years. I love cheese anyway. It can add a whole new dimension to many dishes and the right cheese with the right dish can elevate it to a whole new level.
I am not sure that I have really covered what happened to my daughter on the blog. We were coming to the end of the first week of Ramadan when my daughter had an accident. I don’t want to share the details of her accident but last night my daughter was in hospital again to have her wounds checked and so we slept very late. I cannot put into words what your heart feels like when you see your child hurting. My heart really goes out to parents who have to see their children in pain regularly. I cannot imagine how traumatic that would be for both the patient and the parent.
I have a lot going on in my brain at the moment and this strange thing keeps happening. People keep offering me jobs and I don’t mean recruitment consultants. I mean, normal everyday people either suggest that I should apply for a particular job or people outright ask me to join their business. This is weird to me because i already work. I mean, do people actually think I can just squeeze in another job between the blog, the house and the kids? I do take the blog seriously and treat it as a business. More so this year, then last. Not having a physical product to sell, does not mean I am not working. It’s just a different way of working. Now here I am, working myself up for no reason whilst dreaming of halloumi cheese. This sounds more dramatic then I mean it too. I do find it kind of cute and funny because I LOVE my job and am so grateful for it!
Anyway I made these halloumi fries a realllllllly long time ago and am making them again today you know..just to make sure they taste ok.
- 1 block Halloumi cut into chips
- 2 tbsp Corn Flour
- 1 tsp Sumac
- 1/2 tsp Smoked Paprika
- 1/2 tsp Zataar
- 75 ml Natural Yoghurt
- 1 tbsp Date Syrup/Mollasses
- Pat the halloumi dry and roll in Corn Flour before adding to the pan, turn and cook until golden brown on all sides.
- Mix the harissa with the yogurt and season.
- Put the fries in a bowl, drizzle over the yogurt and syrup.
You can add a little oil to fry the halloumi, but I never have. You can eat these without the yoghurt and syrup because the flavour of the halloumi is strong on its own.
