Muslim Lifestyle Expo (MLE) 2017
Muslim Lifestyle Expo (MLE) 2017 – We were lucky enough to be invited to the MLE on the 28th – 29th October. With the promise of all the best in entertainment and exhibitors, we were excited to attend!
Firstly can I just say it was soooo well organised and has come on leaps and bounds since last year. Last year was a triumph but this year went above and beyond expectations. We went on the Sunday because my kids were keen to see Khalid Siddique! The added bonus was that they got to see Olaf and one of the Minions too.
After a couple of mishaps along the way, we got there in the late afternoon and it was absolutely heaving. So much so that, I had to take a moment to gather myself cos you know..anxiety. It also meant that i wasn’t able to get as many photos as I would have liked because there were always people walking around directly in front of stalls.
For £10 a ticket, you were given access to a wealth of fantastic businesses and entertainers all under one roof. The reason an event like this makes sense for brands to exhibit is because the muslim market has enormous spending power and some of the best businesses are scattered all over the UK. When they all come together in one place, it is something really special. It makes sense for consumers, because there is a big difference between buying something online and being able to see and hold something before you buy it. As well as all that entertainment and food duh.
‘Global brands are waking up to the massive opportunities of the worldwide Muslim market but many still misunderstand or ignore the potential of a burgeoning sector that is young, highly educated and collectively has enormous spending power.
The world’s 1.6 billion Muslims constitute a largely untapped commercial market, the Muslim Lifestyle Expo conference in London heard on Thursday. The halal market is worth $2.1tn (£1.5tn) annually worldwide, and is increasing at $500bn a year.” The Guardian
The programme included a demo from Masterchef winner Saliha Mahmoud, a demo from ‘Curry’ on Halima, Comedy from Daliso Chaponda (Britain’s Got Talent) and Tez Ilyas, Fashion Shows, AHDB Live Butchery and Cooking and various seminars.
Here are the pics we managed to get on the day! We didn’t manage to get pictures of some of the amazing brands there on the day sadly but I believe MLE will have loads of pics coming via the legend that is Rooful, who I saw running around.
