Spicy Okra Strips

These spicy okra strips are perfect alongside these spicy aubergine slices. They are crispy, spicy and delicious. They are great on their own and great with rice and daal. I will be putting the Daal recipe up soon. I LOVE daal. I especially love it with fried vegetables, rice, some sort of pickle and fried fish.

It is rather distressing seeing these photos because they were taken at a time when we didn’t have a clue how to take photos. We thought we knew but we really didn’t. It is a never ending learning experience. My husband has taken over the photography and I think he is doing really well at it.

Clown gates a bit weird isn’t it? Have you heard about the clown craze going on in the UK at the moment? I just think it is so unnecessary and also that taking a prank too far can actually have devastating consequences.

Gosh, I hear footsteps. Sleep in child! It’s the weekend. I can almost guarantee it’s my daughter. My son won’t be wondering around at this hour. Oh footsteps have gone. I am hoping she has sloped back to bed and is in the land of nod.  It isn’t a big problem anyway, she would come down and go to sleep or put her head on my lap as i am typing (Ok that is seriously awkward).

The other day I mentioned that we had to go and see a couple of people. We didn’t actually get round to it and then my husband hurt his hand. So it looks like we may have to go today. I so wish I was one of those people who did social things well but I’m already dreading it. It’s strange because I always end up having a really nice time. I always come back beaming.

Spicy Okra Strips

Ingredients

  • 200 g Okra
  • 1/2 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 2 tbsp tsp chaat masala (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp garam masala powder
  • Salt
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry the okra completely. Cut off the ends.
  2. Cut the okra into strips and dry using a cloth. Then, allow to dry for 3 hours at least.
  3. Deep fry the Okra for 3 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle with chilli powder, turmeric powder, coriander powder, chaat masala, garam masala and salt.
  5. Drain onto a kitchen paper.
