Sticky Chinese Chicken
This sticky chinese chicken is the most delicious thing ever and it is even better served with rice. I am yet to meet a person who doesn’t love it. It is also perfect for cheat day. Obviously this is a one off treat for me especially since I barely eat meat anymore and rarely eat unhealthy meals anymore. Says the girl who ate something loaded with sugar just 5 days ago. Yes what I mean is that, that is the intention going forward. I’m only on day five on my cleanse and pretending I have been eating this way for decades. Lols…But I have got that meat thing down. I barely eat it now. Which is so odd. I used to eat it everyday. Twice a day. I don’t know if this is the post to go into factory farming. Nah probably not. Especially because I am so out of it.
This morning I watched a video from a blogger about the sexualisation of hijab. I know people are all about ‘each to their own’, ‘you do you’, ‘don’t judge’. I am very broad minded. I have friends from all backgrounds. (Rolls eyes with reader). Having had a past myself I know that everyone is on their own individual journey but what bothers me is that if you have a platform, then you are a role model. I said this in another post recently too. If you are a role model, then you already know that you are influencing potentially hundreds of thousands of people whether you asked for that or not. That is why sponsors approach you..because you have influence. Especially on young people.
I find that most modest youtubers/hijabis are modest in their appearance, behaviour and speech to be fair but a couple can take it a little bit left which sends a really confusing message to people because sometimes it is kinda the opposite of what the hijab is about. Young girls look up to bloggers and when they are getting really confusing messages about hijab and hijab is already mega scrutinised, it can be so difficult. The other thing is, sometimes people who are wearing less look more modest. What I mean, is they are wearing loose clothing and the other person might be wearing the kinda clothing that looks like it was painted on. You know that ‘clothed yet naked’ thing.
The thing is, no one can even address this issue because they are TORN DOWN BLAD by all the bloggers followers and told that they are either jealous or judgemental. Aah well, I can’t do anything about it other then what I have been doing already which is pray for them and myself. I guess I am coming across as judgemental. Maybe I am over thinking it. Tell me your thoughts. My issue is the contradiction in supposedly modest blogging and the really /tight clothing and over the top flirting with the camera. It’s sending a confusing message about what hijab is to our youth aka our future. Do we have to blur the lines so much to get acceptance? i think not. Well thats my ten pence done. More like fifty pence.
