Summer Berry Smoothie Bowl

It took me a verrrry long time to accept the idea of a smoothie bowl. I mean, it took me ages to try gazpacho (Yummy btw). This Summer Berry Smoothie bowl may have helped me get into cold soups a little.

However as a general rule, i’m not about no cold soup. Who wants cold soup anyway? After all, isn’t soup meant to be all about warmth and comfort? Isn’t it a rule to wear socks and some sort of oversized jumper whilst slurping (I’m referring to my husband here, he just LOVES to slurp whilst i clench my teeth) on soup? A smoothie bowl is essentially a fruit soup. Let’s not pretend it’s anything else. However what a fab soup! I love how you can just mix it up and throw in any combination of the delicious fruit that we are blessed to have access to all year round. A summer berry smoothie is deliciously sweet, healthy and filling. The other great thing about it is you can make it with any milk of your choice, be that goats/coconut/almond. You can even replace the honey with agave nectar. By the way when i say filling, i mean really filling. Like basically, i had mine as a main meal and didn’t eat after that which is saying something because i can eat.. a lot.

This summer berry smoothie is my favourite to date. It isn’t too tart as berry smoothies quite often are.  I love the surprise peanut butter hidden under the cherries. I love how creamy it is! I love that i can top it with whatever i have in my fridge at the time. (Btw, Would highly recommend the cherries!).

Summer Berry Smoothie Bowl

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 5 minutes

Yield: 2

Calories per serving: 111 (per person)

Fat per serving: 2.3 g (per person)


    Smoothie Bowl
  • 260g Frozen strawberries
  • 30g frozen raspberries
  • 30g frozen blueberries
  • 1 very ripe banana
  • 1 tbsp honey or agave nectar
  • 250 ml milk
  • Toppings
  • Peanut Butter
  • Cherries
  • Passion fruit
  • Blackberries
  • Granola
  • Physalis
  • Strawberries
  • Dark Chocolate raisins/cranberries
  • (Anything you want!)


  1. In a blender combine the frozen strawberries, frozen blueberries and frozen raspberries and pulse until they are fully blended to a smooth creamy paste. This takes about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the banana and milk and pulse until blended/combined. This takes around 2 minutes.
  3. Assemble
  4. Pour the smoothie mix into a small bowl and add toppings of your choice.
  5. Drizzle with the honey or agave nectar.

  1. That is one beautiful smoothie bowl! I just think of them as a smoothie poured into a bowl instead of a glass, to get past that weird “is this a soup?” feeling. But then again, I am a huge gazpacho lover too!

  3. What a beautiful bowl!! I actually love cold soups – especially as leftovers – but I never equated cold soups with smoothie bowls. You are exactly right about the comparison, which makes me wonder why I haven’t had one yet.

  4. This looks AMAZING! Passion fruit is my favorite thing ever, when I lived in Australia for six months I ate it all the time but I can never find it in California. I’m going to live vicariously through you!!
