V:Gd – Delicious vegan and gluten free desserts
This is a sponsored post for V:Gd.
I imagine that becoming vegan can feel like quite an intimidating task. I mean, there is so much to consider. I think the no meat bit would probably be the easiest part, to be honest. Well it would be for me anyway. The no milk, no eggs and no butter on the other hand would probably be a real challenge! So t’s nice to come across desserts made without any of the above! Desserts that are pretty delicious and vegan friendly. What is even nicer, is that the desserts are Refined sugar free, Dairy free, Wheat free, Soy free and Gluten free! The company behind the desserts are V:Gd.
So a little background – Tasneem of V:Gd desserts was diagnosed with Coeliac disease in 2013 and adopted a refined sugar free and plant based diet in 2015. She describes herself as a chocoholic who wanted to satisfy her sweet tooth using whole foods. So she set about creating her own unique desserts and uses only the finest ingredients to do just that. Not only are her desserts a work of art, they also meet the regulations of the Vegan Society and they last in the freezer for up to ten weeks which in my opinion is a real bonus.
There seems to be a growing interest in veganism. I myself have repeatedly thought about adopting a vegan diet over the last few months. At the moment, I would say that I am a flexitarian. Our diet is about 80% plant based. I won’t go into what I think the reasons are for this growing trend, but what I will say is If you yourself have thought about starting a vegan diet, then what better way to start then with dessert? 😉
I first sampled the V:Gd desserts at Room V and then at a local vegan event. My first dessert was the raw cookie dough pop. We may have gone back for seconds or thirds.. My son definitely devoured more then his fair share.
On this occasion we tasted the Salted Caramel, Mint Choc Chip, Carrot Cake and Hazelnut dream. My favourite flavour was the Salted Caramel. You have to try it. Really. Guilt free indulgence is so the best! My second fave was the mint choc chip.
What surprised me about the desserts was how they didn’t have that aftertaste of artificial sweetener that you sometimes get with vegan desserts. These desserts were sweet, silky, creamy, delicate and just melted in the mouth.
For Leicester based people, V:GD will be holding a free sampling session at The Detox Shak, next Wednesday and Thursday (9th/10th November between 11.30 am – 1.30 pm and at Room V on Friday 11th November between 10am – 12pm. They will also be holding a stall at The Vegan Fair on the 19th November between 10am – 4pm.
I do hope you get to go down and sample some of that V:Gd goodness! 🙂
