Chicken Tikka Skewers - The recipe for a favourite Indian Takeaway

Ingredients
  

  • 4 Chicken Thighs (Roughly 500g) boneless, skinless cut into bitesize chunks

Marinade

  • 3 tbsp Greek Yoghurt
  • 1/2 Lime juice of
  • 4 cloves Garlic crushed
  • 1 heaped tsp Ginger crushed
  • 3 tsp Gram Flour
  • 1 tbsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tsp Kashmiri or other Red Chilli Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Garam Masala Powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1 tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric
  • Salt to taste

Other

  • 1-2 tbsp Butter melted
  • 1/2 Lemon juice of
  • 4 Wraps
  • Salads, Chutneys and Sauces to serve
  • 4 Skewers soaked in water for 30 minutes

Instructions
 

  • Marinade the chicken in all the marinade ingredients for a few hours or overnight.
  • Preheat the grill to medium/high. Thread chicken onto the skewers. Place on wire rack over a tray and cook under the grill for 15 - 20 minutes. Baste regularly.
  • Serve warm with sauces, salads, chutneys and in a hot wrap!

Notes

The gram flour is important because it helps the marinade stick to the chicken. This is something my mum always does and a tip I also remember reading many many years ago on a blog by a lady called Manisha. I can't remember her surname. :( Please let me know if you know who I am talking about.
The marination time is not included in the times for this recipe.
