Chilli Paneer with Peppers

Chilli Paneer with Peppers - Indo Chinese food is very popular and this is probably my favourite dish of the lot because I love Paneer and I love Chilli.

Paneer Cubes

  • 200 grams Paneer Cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • Squeeze Lemon Juice


  • 2 tbsp Rice Flour
  • 2 tbsp Corn Flour
  • 1/4 tsp Salt


  • 1 tsp Oil
  • 2 small cloves Garlic crushed
  • 1/2 inch Ginger crushed
  • 1 small Green or Yellow Pepper Cut into 1 inch cubes
  • 1 Green Chilli Pierced
  • 1 tbsp Sweet Chilli Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Chilli Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Dark Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp Brown Sugar
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 Spring Onion Chopped finely



  1. Add all the ingredients (except for the lemon juice) for the batter in a small bowl. 

    Dip the paneer into the batter and set aside.

  2. Heat 2 tbsp oil in a large flat frying pan. 

    Add the paneer and quickly cover. Fry for 20-30 seconds and then turn and cover again and fry for 20 - 30 seconds. 

    Drop the paneer into a bowl of water and add a squeeze of lemon juice to the water. 


  1. Heat the oil in a pan over medium/high heat, stir in the garlic and ginger and cook for about 1 minute.

  2. Add the pepper and chilli and cook for 2 minutes.

  3. Stir in the sauces, brown sugar and salt. Turn the heat right down and cook for about 3- 5 minutes or until thickened. 

  4. Add the paneer to the sauce and cook for 2 minutes. Garnish with spring onions and serve.

Recipe Notes

You may need to add some cornflour (1 tsp) mixed in 1 tbsp water to the sauce if it isn't thickening.
