Loaded Daal with Cauliflower Steak and Quick Pickled Onions - Recently, I have started to get into loading my dal up with toppings. There is the usual tadka situation but then a couple of extra things to make it even more hearty, wholesome and delicious.

Ingredients
  

Daal

  • See notes

Cauliflower

  • 1 small head Cauliflower cut into 1 inch steaks
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1/4 tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Cumin
  • 1 tsp Smoked Paprika
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Turmeric

Pickled Onions

  • 1 Red Onion cut into slices
  • 1/2 large Lime juice of
  • Pinch Salt

Extras

  • 4 Eggs Fully boiled or half boiled

Instructions
 

Daal

  • Make dal according to the recipe in the notes.

Cauliflower

  • Preheat oven to 200c/Gas mark 6. 
  • Rub the oil and all the other ingredients into the cauliflower. Ass to a lined tray and bake for 20 - 25 minutes.

Quick Pickled Onions

  • Add all the ingredients for the onions to a small bowl and set aside.

Assemble

  • Ladle the daal into bowls and top with cauliflower, onions and egg.
