Ingredients
  

  • 160 g Unsalted Butter
  • 250 g Dark Brown Sugar
  • 100 g Caster Sugar
  • 1 flat tsp Salt
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 3 Eggs
  • 2 ¼ tsp Baking Powder
  • 325 g Plain Flour
  • 400 g Mixed Chocolate Chips I used half dark and half white

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C/Gas Mark 4. Grease a 9 x 13 inch baking tray.
  • Place butter in a medium pot over medium heat and allow to brown slightly. Stirring regularly. It will foam first and then brown. It should take 5–8 minutes. Scrape into a large bowl and allow to cool.
  • Stir in the Sugar, salt and vanilla. Allow to cool completely before cutting.
  • Add the eggs, beating well after each addition. 
  • Stir in the baking powder and flour. 
  • Fold in the chocolate chips.
  • Spread the batter into the tin.
  • Bake the bars for 25 to 32 minutes, until golden brown and the edges look done. Press down the top with a silicone/metal spatula.
  • Allow to cool completely before cutting into bars.

Notes

Storage Instructions

These bars keep well in an airtight container for 4 -5 days. You can also freeze them  for up to a month.
