Middle Eastern Smash Tacos (Lebanese-Inspired Beef Tacos)
These Middle Eastern Smash Tacos combine seasoned beef, crisp sumac salad and creamy tahini sauce in a quick Lebanese-inspired dinner full of flavour.
Ingredients
For the Lamb
- 2 lb Ground Lamb (80/20 preferred)
- 1 White Onion Grated
- ½ cup Parsley Finely chopped
- 5 Garlic Cloves Crushed
- 2 teaspoon Cumin Powder
- 2 teaspoon All Spice
- 2 teaspoon Smoked Paprika
- 1 teaspoon Onion Powder
- 1 teaspoon Aleppo Pepper Optional
- 2 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
- 15 Taco-sized Flour Tortillas
Salad
- ½ Cucumber Diced
- ½ small Red Onion Diced or Sliced
- 2 small Tomatoes Diced
- 2 tablespoon Lemon Juice
- 1 tablespoon Sumac
- Good pinch Salt
Tahini Garlic Sauce
- ½ cup Tahini
- Pinch Sugar
- 1 Garlic Clove Crushed
- 1 Lemon Juice only
- Salt
- ¼ cup Water
Instructions
- Step 1: Make the Beef Mixture - Add all lamb ingredients to a bowl and mix until fully combined.
- Step 2: Make the Sumac Salad - Combine cucumbers, tomatoes and red onion. Toss with lemon, sumac and salt. Set aside.
- Step 3: Make the Tahini Sauce - Blend tahini, sugar, garlic, lemon juice, salt and water until smooth and creamy.
- Step 4: Assemble the Tacos - Spread 3 to 4 tablespoons of the beef mixture onto each tortilla in an even layer.
- Step 5: Cook - Heat a pan over medium heat. Place tortillas meat-side down and press firmly so the beef sticks and spreads.Cook for about 4 minutes until browned and crisp. Flip and cook 1 more minute on the tortilla side.Repeat with remaining tacos.
- Step 6: Serve - Top with sumac salad and drizzle generously with tahini sauce.
