Banoffee Trifle

This is banoffee pie in trifle form and you will love it! In this recipe, all the elements of banoffee pie come together with custard and create the most incredible dessert.

Think crumbly buttery biscuits, sweet caramel, sliced bananas, whipped cream and even a little chocolate too.

I have been making banoffee pie for years. In the era when you had to boil condensed milk for hours on end to create a caramel. But i love this retro dessert. It has a special place in my heart and I will always have space for a slice/spoonful or 3 when I spot it at someone's house.

This trifle version is just as irresistible!

So easy to make!

Banoffee pie is a go to dessert for gatherings in my home. Simply because it is very easy to make and doesn't require hob space or oven time. It is the ultimate fuss free dessert!

What does it taste like?

In a nutshell - Like Toffee mixed with Crumbly buttery biscuits, luscious cream and fresh bananas.

Tips and FAQ's

Biscoff - Add a layer of Biscoff. It works really well in this recipe and use Biscoff Biscuits instead of Digestives.

DIY? - In this recipe, pretty much everything is store brought but you can make your own biscuits, cake, caramel if you prefer. I have in the past made a genoise sponge for the bottom layer and it was delightful but the idea of this dessert is ease and I don't envision myself doing that again.

Layers - You can do a single layer or multiple layers.

Caramel - You can use the Carnation brand or if you prefer make you own. You can also use a thick store brought caramel.

Trifle Container - I used one off Amazon but even a rectangular/square dish will work. It will need to be deep though.

Bananas - Use bananas that are ripe but not overly ripe. They need to be firm so bananas with black spots on the outside won't work.

Storage (Fridge/Freezer/Make Ahead) - Store banoffee trifle in the refrigerator right after making. It is best served straight from the fridge and consumed within 2 days. Try not to leave it out for long. This dessert can't be frozen!

Can I make an individual banoffee trifles? Yes you can. You will need approx 10 - 12 small trifle dishes/clear cups.

Can I make banoffee trifle the night before?  Yes. 1 day in advance is perfect.
