Chick Fil A Nuggets are famous for a reason. Made with Chicken Breast, Spices and Pickle Juice as well as a secret and unexpected (well in my world anyway) ingredient that adds sweetness. These Nuggets are served with a Honey Mustard dipping sauce that is equally as delicious as the nuggets.
Chick Fil A Nuggets
These Nuggets are deliciously moist with a crunchy coating but sadly I live quite a distance from Chick Fil A, so whilst I donโt have to contend with the long queues, I also would need to board a flight to get my hands on the nuggets.
So for me, the only option is to make them at home.
The Chicken in this recipe is marinaded in pickle juice. I do this with many Burger recipes and Fried Chicken too. It adds flavour but also keeps the Breast moist.
There is contradicting information out there with regards to the addition/non addition of Dill Pickle Juice.
Some use it and others donโt. I actually love the flavour of it so I add it in.
In the absence of Pickle Juice, I would recommend Buttermilk or just the Milk with a dash of Lemon Juice which will have a similar effect.
This is a copycat recipe of the famous Chicken Nuggets and they taste pretty good!
Ingredients in Chick Fil A Nuggets
There are a few ingredients needed in this recipe and these are:
- Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast
- Dill Pickle Juice
- Milk
- Egg
- Plain Flour
- Garlic Powder
- Paprika
- Red Chilli Powder
- Salt & Pepper
- Icing Sugar - The secret ingredient that lends a hint of sweetness
- Oil - Peanut Oil or Veg Oil
How To Make Chick Fil A Nuggets
Firstly we marinade the Chicken Breast in in a mixture of Milk and Pickle Juice.
30 mins to 24 hours is great to help tenderise the Chicken.
Then add the Egg into the mixture.
Combine Flour and Spices in a plate and dip the Nuggets into it.
Then fry till golden brown.
Drain the Chicken on a wire rack.
Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce
To make the sauce, combine:
- Mayonnaise - 4 tbsp
- Honey - 1.5 tbsp
- Lemon Juice - 1 tsp
- Mustard - 1 tbsp
- Seasoning
in a bowl and which together. Place into the fridge.
This sauce keeps well in a container with a lid in the fridge for at least 2 weeks.
Storage
How To Freeze Chicken Nuggets:
Once the Chicken Nuggets are cooled, pop them into a freezer bag and freeze for up to 3 months.
To Reheat in the Oven:
โข OVEN: Bake in a single layer at 190 C/Gas Mark 5 for 15 minutes until crisp and hot all the way through.
โข AIR FRYER: Pop in the air fryer at 190 C for 8 to 12 minutes, turning midway, until hot all the way through and crisp on the outside.
Tips for frying Chick Fil A Nuggets
As tempting as it is, don't be tempted to crowd the oil with ALLLL the Chicken. It will drop the temperature of the Oil meaning you will end up with soggy Chicken with no coating.
Remove fried Chicken on to a wire cooling rack not tissues. Tissues steam the Chicken and will make the crispy coating soggy.

Chick Fil A Nuggets
Ingredients
- 1 lb Chicken Breast cut into chunks
- 125 ml Milk
- 125 ml Dill Pickle Juice
- 1 Egg
- 150 g Plain Flour
- 1 tablespoon Icing Sugar
- 1 teaspoon Paprika
- ยฝ teaspoon Red Chilli Powder Optional
- 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
- Oil
Instructions
- Combine Chicken, Milk and Dill Pickle Juice in a large bowl.
- Cover and place in the fridge for 30 mins to 2 hours.
- Add Egg to the same bowl and mic through.
- Heat Oil.
- Combine Flour, Sugar, Paprika, Red Chilli Powder, Garlic Powder, Salt and Pepper in a plate and mix evenly.
- Dip the Chicken into the Flour mixture. Check that the Oil is hot.
- Fry in batches for 3 - 4 minutes till golden and crispy and transfer to a wire rack.
