    A delicious Chilli Cheese Toast Recipe for a quick and easy lunch or snack. This is a popular Indian recipe for Cheese on Toast and it will be ready to eat in 5 minutes.

    Chilli Cheese Toast

    This recipe is perfect for when you are hungry, need food fast and want a delicious, satisfying and flavourful meal.

    This recipe works as a quick snack, goes well with soup for lunch, with chai, or with side salad. 

    There are many many ways to make this recipe. What makes this cheese on toast different and so special is the spicy kick of chilli and other flavourings. All of which can be adjusted to suit your tastebuds.

    This chili toast recipe is made under the grill. You can also make it in a flat pan or tawa.

    Variations

    Toastie - The toast can also be made into a sandwich too if you prefer.  Just add a slice of bread on top and pop into a sandwich maker or toast. You can add a light smothering of butter or mayo to the outside before grilling.

    Cheese - Use your preferred cheese here. I like to use both cheddar and mozzarella cheese and sometimes red liecester too. 

    Veg - You can add finely chopped veg such as Spring Onions, chopped Peppers or Herbs such as Chives.

     Ingredients in the best chilli cheese toast

    This chilli cheese toast is delicious and here are the keys to the mouth watering flavour:

    • Garlic and Chilli Butter - Finely sliced garlic, coriander and chilli is mashed into butter and then a thin coating is applied to the bread. It adds delicious flavour.
    • A mix of Cheeses - You can use whatever you like here, but using a mix of cheese adds depth and complexity. We used a blend of sharp cheddar and mozzarella.
    • A pinch of Salt and Black Pepper - Sounds simple, but a pinch of salt and pepper heightens all the flavours and brings everything together.

    BEST WAY to make Chilli Cheese Toast - FAST

    Turns out, there are lots of techniques for making chilli cheese on toast!

    Some methods use the oven: but who wants to wait 10 to 15 minutes for their oven to preheat? 

    The best way? Grill it. 

    Step by Step Recipe

    Finely slice (Optional) Coriander, Garlic and Chilli. Combine with butter and seasoning in a bowl.

    Mix in the Cheese.

    Spread cheese mixture onto bread. You can do this on one or both sides.

    Add more Cheese, if you like. Grill or pan fry for 3 - 4 minutes.

    How to serve Chilli Cheese Toast

      • As a snack - With some Masala, Cardamom or Ginger Chai. 
      • With your favourite Soup - It makes the perfect easy lunch. Try it with your favourite soup. Ours is this comforting Creamy Chicken, Orzo and Mushroom Soup.
      • With a crunchy green Salad -  Basically make a meal out of it. Two pieces of cheese toast with a salad.

    Chilli Cheese Toast

    Ingredients

    • 2 - 3 tbsp Coriander
    • 1 or 1/2 clove Garlic
    • 1 Red or Green Chilli Finely sliced
    • 4 tbsp Softened Butter
    • Salt and Pepper
    • 10 g Cheddar Cheese around 1/8 cup
    • 10 g Mozarella Cheese around 1/8 cup
    • 2 slices Bread

    Instructions

    1. Finely slice (Optional) Coriander, Garlic and Chilli. Combine with 2 tbsp butter and seasoning in a bowl.

    2. Mix in the Cheese.

    3. Butter bread on both sides and place onto an oven tray.

    4. Spread cheese mixture onto bread. You can do this on one or both sides. If doing it one both sides, do 1/2 mixture now, flip then add more mixture and continue to gtill.

    5. Add more Cheese, if you like. Grill or pan fry for 3 - 4 minutes.
