Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Oat Bars - These heathy no peanut butter oat bars with chocolate chips are soft, thick, chewy and delicious. They are so much better then store-bought granola bars. These bars are made with 4 ingredients - Peanut Butter, Honey, Chocolate Chips and Oats. Hands on time is just 5 minutes for this recipe! These bars are easily adaptable and are PERFECT for peanut butter lovers or those with a sweet tooth.

This recipe uses simple store-cupboard ingredients and make a great snack or breakfast for busy days. It is also easily adaptable and the bars keep well for up to 1 week making them ideal for meal prep. Why you should make No Bake Oat Bars with Peanut Butter

No bake Recipe

There is no need to put these in the oven on to make these simple Oat and Peanut Butter Bars.

Quick & Easy

This recipe is easy to make and you need very little hands on time to make them. You simply mix everything together and then place in the fridge to set.  

Healthy

They are a healthy snack bar and are great for lunch boxes. These chewy bars are packed full of Healthy Fats, Vitamins, Minerals and Fibre.

Adaptable

You can add whatever you like to these bars such as desiccated Coconut, chopped Nuts, Dry Fruit or Seeds.

Delicious Treat

These soft bars have a chewy texture and are popular with kids and adults alike.

Ingredients needed in these No Bake Bars

This chewy peanut butter oatmeal bars is made with basic ingredients. Full full measurements, scroll to the recipe card at the bottom of the page:

Smooth Natural Peanut Butter

We use a cup of Peanut Butter. Smooth and creamy peanut butter at room temperature is my preference. Use your favourite brand. I use Pip and Nut. You can also use crunchy Peanut Butter.

Honey or pure Maple Syrup

These add sweetness and helps hold the Bars together.

Rolled Oats

We use regular old fashioned Oats not steel cut Oats, but Porridge Oats/Quick Oats also work.

Chocolate Chips

We add a handful of regular chocolate chips. Dark Chocolate Chips or Milk Chocolate Chips are great in this recipe.

How to make Peanut Butter No Bake Chocolate Oat Bars

Line a 9 x 9-inch pan/tin with parchment paper. You can also use a 8 x 8 square pan.

Heat Honey and Peanut Butter by adding them to a large saucepan and warming over low heat till melted. You can also do this in the Microwave.

Add to a large bowl. Stir in Oats.

Transfer Oat mixture to the prepared baking pan.

Stir half Chocolate Chips into the Oats and sprinkle the remaining Chocolate Chips over the top and press in.

Place tin in the fridge for at least 2 hours to set.

Tips to make the Best Oat Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Bars

Melt the Peanut Butter and Honey together, before adding the Oats

This makes it much easier to mix the Oats into the liquid ingredients.

Press the Oat mixture into the tin

Use a silicone spatula to press the mixture evenly into the tin.

Line the pan

Line the tin with parchment paper/greaseproof paper. You can spray the paper with Oil or lightly grease it to make it easier to lift the bars out.

Cut the Bars 

Cut the bars into 12 Bars.

Variations & Substitutions in Chocolate Peanut Butter Oatmeal Bars

Peanut Butter

You can use your favourite Nut or even Seed Butter here such as Almond Butter,  Cashew Butter, Sunflower Seed butter are good options.

Vanilla Extract

Add a teaspoon of Vanilla Extract for extra flavour.

Honey

You can use Maple Syrup or Agave Syrup to make this recipe Vegan.

Add-ins

You can use dry Fruit or Nuts in place of chocolate chips. If you do, mix them into the bars before spreading the mixture into the tin. Good options for a little texture are Raisin, Cranberries, chopped Pecans, chopped Walnuts, Desiccated Coconut.

Add Spices

Such as Cinnamon, Cardamom or Mixed Spice.

Salt

Add a sprinkling of Sea Salt on top of the Bars.

Chocolate

Add a Chocolate layer on top of the Bars for a delicious flavour and makes the best peanut butter combination.

Storing and Freezing Peanut Butter Oat Bars

To Store

Place Bars in an airtight container, and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.

How to Freeze

Chill the bars in the fridge. Once set, wrap in cling film/plastic wrap and then a layer of foil and freeze in an airtight container for up to 6 months.
